The company opened its doors in 2023, promising to deliver an ambitious franchise.
Bad Brain Game Studios, founded by former Ubisoft developers — including team members who worked on Watch Dogs: Legion — will close on November 17. The studio was unable to secure the necessary funding after NetEase withdrew its support.
The studio had been developing a title called Midnight Riders. Bad Brain says it is open to acquisition or partnership.
Despite our best efforts to find a new partner for the project, a clear way forward never emerged. We are sincerely grateful to NetEase Games for their support and for the time they gave us to explore every possible avenue. Our team poured everything into this journey — day after day pushing creative and technical boundaries with passion, imagination, and craft. What we accomplished together will remain a lasting testament to the extraordinary talent of this team.
