Ashes of Creation Hits Steam with Major Discount — MMORPG Still Far from Finished
Ashes of Creation is headed to Steam soon, with a playable test build becoming available in December. Intrepid Studios’ MMORPG has been in development for nearly ten years and continues to evolve through alpha phases; it is currently in Alpha Two.
The third wave of testing launched in August, but a full release is still some way off. The team intends to move through Beta One and Beta Two to ensure the game reaches retail with the necessary stability and polish.
Creative Director Steven Sharif reminded players that the current alpha is not a finished product: “Alpha Two can sometimes feel like a full game, but we are still refining it.” On Steam it will be priced at $50 (compared to $100 when purchased directly from Intrepid), although the premium currency Embers has been replaced by a “cosmetic cloak.” The title supports cross-platform play, so testers can continue using either the standalone client or Steam.
Intrepid emphasizes that Ashes of Creation is a reactive world where player-driven progress shapes settlements, the economy, combat balance, and global events. Steam Early Access is scheduled for December 11, 2025, with a 15% launch discount for the first two weeks—bringing the U.S. price to $42.49.
