Ascenders: Beyond The Peak – A Fusion of Mountain Climbing, Roguelite Mechanics, and Lovecraftian Horror

Ludogram Games, the creative force behind Firebird and Monsters are Coming: Rock & Roll, has unveiled its latest project: Ascenders: Beyond the Peak. This upcoming title blends the high-stakes tension of mountaineering with turn-based strategy and roguelite elements, all wrapped in a chilling atmosphere of Lovecraftian horror.
In this harrowing journey, players command a specialized squad of climbers attempting to scale a peak cursed by ancient, malevolent entities. Success hinges on precise coordination; your team is physically tethered together, meaning every movement impacts the group’s safety. Strategy is further deepened by distinct character classes: Highlanders utilize brute force to clear paths or shove threats aside, Scouts navigate vertical terrain with grappling hooks, and Sappers provide heavy support with firearms and demolition tools.
The ascent is a grueling test of endurance. Navigating treacherous environments—ranging from slick ice sheets to crumbling cliff faces and suffocating brambles—constantly drains your team’s vitality. The roguelite structure ensures that no two expeditions are the same, featuring branching paths that force players into difficult dilemmas. In dire moments, you may face the ultimate survival choice: sacrificing a comrade by literally cutting their rope to ensure the rest of the team reaches the next plateau.
Beyond the physical climb, Ascenders offers a meta-layer of progression. Reaching milestones allows players to recover artifacts from a vanished civilization. These relics can be used to fortify your base camp, traded with enigmatic factions, or utilized as powerful boons during active climbs. Every decision—from which mountain face to tackle to which alliances to forge—will shape a branching narrative leading toward several distinct endings.
Ascenders: Beyond the Peak is slated to arrive on Steam Early Access in the third quarter of 2026.
