Void Hunters: combat, Hunting Grounds and cross-platform plans

Artifex Mundi revealed Void Hunters during Future Games Show Live from GDC in March 2026. The studio describes it as a free-to-play, turn-based dark-fantasy hero collector that combines a story campaign with repeatable roguelite missions and is being developed for Steam and mobile devices.

Turn-based squad combat

Players assemble a team of Hunters whose abilities, roles and relationships are intended to influence combat. The official description emphasizes composition and synergy rather than real-time reflexes: positioning a complementary squad and understanding each character’s mechanics should matter when the group confronts creatures linked to the world-consuming Void.

How Hunting Grounds differ from the campaign

Void Hunters includes a conventional story-led campaign and a separate roguelite-style structure called Hunting Grounds. These missions use randomized events and temporary boons while escalating toward boss encounters. A run can therefore test a different team setup without replacing the persistent character collection and development systems described for the broader game.

Steam, mobile and shared progression

Artifex Mundi announced simultaneous support for Steam, Google Play and Apple’s App Store, with cross-play and cross-progression planned between platforms. Those are development goals from the reveal, not a guarantee that every storefront, region, device or account-linking route will behave identically at launch. Current compatibility should be checked on the live product pages.

Alpha testing and release status

The March announcement invited players to register for early testing through the official community channels. It did not publish a firm worldwide release date. An alpha can contain unfinished balance, limited progress or wipes, so a test invitation should not be treated as ownership of a commercial version.

GamesRadar and Pocket Gamer independently covered the GDC reveal and confirmed the turn-based, squad-building and mobile-PC positioning. Neither source replaces the official site for current test access, monetization terms or minimum specifications.

Artifex Mundi announced Void Hunters without a fixed launch date and opened its Steam page for wishlisting.
