The world-class event will boost scientific capacity in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence

Moscow, October 26, 2018 – Saudi Aramco Upstream Technology Company, a Saudi Aramco company, will host the inaugural Aramco Upstream Solutions Technathon from October 26-28.
The objective of the event is to harness the talent of Russian university students and researchers in developing innovative oil and gas industry solutions. The competition will be held at Lomonosov Moscow State University’s MSU Science Park, the future home of Aramco Innovations, Saudi Aramco’s newest global research center, as stipulated by a memorandum of understanding between the integrated energy and chemicals giant and MSU in August 2018.
Delegates will develop and present prototypes integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into specific oil and gas industry applications, concentrating on four distinct, strategic areas:
- Dynamic geological models building;
- Subsurface imaging using seismic data;
- Determination of elastic tension values in a field scale; and
- Reservoir parameters measurement and evaluation.
Assignments, tutorials and technology presentations will be given in English, and participation is free of charge. Prizes will be shared among the top five teams with the most groundbreaking and well-developed solutions to industry challenges. The competition will also help identify prospective candidates to be interviewed for research positions on the Aramco Innovations team.
