Anitta and Shakira Announce New ‘Choka Choka’ Collaboration

The musical powerhouses of Brazil and Colombia are officially uniting for a historic cross-cultural moment. On Monday, April 6, Anitta and Shakira sent shockwaves through social media by announcing their debut collaborative effort, titled “Choka Choka.”
The reveal featured striking cover art that reimagines both South American icons as figures on tarot cards, artistically draped in nothing but oversized plumage. The announcement marks the first time these two global forces have worked together on a single project.
Expressing her excitement in Spanish, Anitta shared the news with her followers: “You have no idea how thrilled I am to finally unveil this collaboration from my upcoming album, EQUILIBRIVM.”
Shakira was equally enthusiastic, notably reciprocating the gesture by posting in Portuguese to honor Anitta’s Brazilian roots. In her Instagram Story, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer teased the chemistry between them, telling fans they “have no idea” what kind of heat the two have cooked up in the studio. She further described the track as “incredible,” promising that the audience will be captivated by the result.
“Choka Choka” is set to drop this Thursday, serving as the second preview of Anitta’s seventh studio album, EQUILIBRIVM, which is scheduled for a full release on April 16. The project follows her previous single, “Pinterest,” released last month. Since her debut over a decade ago, Anitta has transitioned from a local star to an international phenomenon. Her 2022 anthem “Envolver” secured her a top-three spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart and marked her inaugural solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100.
The timing of the release has sparked intense rumors regarding Anitta’s upcoming debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend. With the single arriving just forty-eight hours before she takes the stage at Studio 8H, fans are speculating whether Shakira might make a surprise appearance for a high-profile live premiere of the track.
