The developers aren’t just expanding the game with new content; they are also diligently modernizing legacy regions.

The team behind American Truck Simulator recently pulled back the curtain on their ambitious Route 66 overhaul project, sharing a fresh gallery of development screenshots.

SCS Software is currently neck-deep in revitalizing the iconic “Mother Road,” meticulously refining various landmarks and landscapes along the way.

A significant focus is being placed on the Grand Canyon, which will receive a substantial boost in visual fidelity. The surrounding environment is also being revamped: Grand Canyon Village is getting a makeover, and players can look forward to discovering the newly added settlement of Tusayan.

The Hoover Dam is also undergoing a complete transformation. Its adjacent territories have been entirely reconstructed from the ground up, enabling the developers to achieve a more authentic representation of the landmark with significantly more intricate details.

Virtual truckers in ATS will be able to take advantage of new viewpoints and rest stops, while enjoying a more logical and realistic road layout.

While the excitement is building, the studio has not yet confirmed an official release date for the Route 66 update.

As always, the visuals presented are “work in progress” and may not reflect the final quality of the content when it eventually launches.
