American Truck Simulator 1.60 Open Beta

Your participation helps us refine the experience, and we truly appreciate the effort you put into stress-testing these new additions. Here is a closer look at what the 1.60 update brings to the road.

In-Game Radio

Update 1.60 debuts our new “Game Radio,” designed to bring an authentic, immersive soundtrack to your long hauls. Rather than static tracks, you can now tune into five unique stations, each featuring a curated musical identity—ranging from American roots and gritty rock to lo-fi, electronic, and pop beats. For content creators, “Escape” is fully stream-safe to protect your videos from copyright issues.

Game Radio Interface

We’ve also added a handy in-game widget (customizable via the F6 menu) that displays track and artist info while you drive. For the full breakdown, visit our dedicated blog post.

Refined Material System

This update introduces a major overhaul to how lighting interacts with truck interiors. By utilizing dynamic cubemaps, surfaces like leather, metallic trim, and fabric now respond realistically to ambient light, providing vastly improved depth and clarity, even in dim conditions. The Mack Anthem and Western Star 49X are the first to receive this visual upgrade, with more models coming in future patches. Learn more about this technology here.

Lighting Enhancements

We have performed a subtle polish on global lighting, focusing on better exposure balance and contrast. Bad weather conditions, in particular, now benefit from a more refined and consistent visual profile.

Custom Company Paint Jobs

You can now outfit your rigs with a new suite of company-themed liveries. These designs aren’t just one-size-fits-all; we’ve manually tailored them to suit the specific geometry of different trailers, from box vans to tankers, ensuring your fleet looks sharp and professional. Job Details & Navigation

Responding to community requests, the new Job Details Widget provides immediate access to cargo weight, income, and destination data without requiring you to pause the game. Additionally, your GPS now displays your estimated arrival time, distance remaining, and total travel time at a glance.

Expanded Rest System

You now have granular control over your rest breaks. Instead of fixed timers, you can decide exactly how long to sleep. We’ve also split the fatigue mechanic into two distinct variables: “Rest State” (tracked by a bed icon) and “Mandatory Break” (tracked by a “P” icon), providing a more realistic depiction of a long-haul driver’s schedule.

Changelog Summary

  • Vehicles: Custom Company Paint Jobs.
  • Visuals: Advanced Material System and Lighting Tweaks.
  • Audio: New Game Radio integration.
  • UI/UX: Job Details Widget and enhanced Rest Mechanics.

Note: As this is an Open Beta, expect potential instability. We recommend waiting for the official release if you prefer a bug-free experience. If you’re ready to help, please submit your findings to the bug reporting section.
