Oscar-winning director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) has selected the principal cast for his forthcoming film Alone at Dawn. The leads will be portrayed by Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway.
The project is adapted from the book of the same name and centers on U.S. Sergeant John Chapman. In the spring of 2002, Chapman demonstrated remarkable bravery during the Battle of Takur Ghar in Afghanistan and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration.
Driver will take on the role of Chapman, while Hathaway will play the service member who worked to secure the posthumous recognition for him. The screenplay was penned by Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary) and Amy Herzog (Savant). Amazon MGM will distribute the film in theaters.
Driver most recently appeared in Jim Jarmusch’s festival drama “Father, Mother, Sister, Brother.” Hathaway is slated to appear soon in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.
