Disney’s animated feature “Zootopia 2” pulled in $34 million on its first day of release in China, Variety reports. That marks the biggest opening for an animated title in the country’s history.
Worldwide box office receipts have already topped $130 million after just two days; a fuller accounting is expected by early next week.
“Zootopia 2” follows rabbit officer Judy Hopps and fox Nick Wilde as they tackle a new, high-stakes case. The original film, released in 2016, ultimately earned $1.023 billion globally during its theatrical run.
