“Zootopia 2” pulled in $556 million globally over its opening weekend, registering as the fourth-biggest debut in film history. The sequel also became the first animated picture to reach that level of revenue during its first week of release.
Reports indicate the film earned $156 million domestically and $400 million from international markets. China was the top contributor overseas, accounting for $272 million of the total.
Notably, the original “Zootopia” opened to just $75 million on its debut weekend but eventually went on to surpass $1 billion in lifetime box office takings.
