Fandango has revealed the digital premiere date for the highly anticipated sequel to “Zootopia,” the animated hit centered on a metropolis of anthropomorphic creatures. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Hess, the film is scheduled to arrive on streaming and VOD platforms this coming Tuesday, January 27.
Arriving a decade after its predecessor, the narrative of “Zootopia 2” reunites bunny officer Judy Hopps and the street-smart fox Nick Wilde. The duo finds themselves entangled in a complex investigation involving a mysterious group of reptiles who were exiled from the city long ago.
“Zootopia 2” has already made history as the highest-grossing animated film in U.S. history, raking in over $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office. Critics have been equally enthusiastic about the sequel; the film currently holds a strong 91% approval rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
