Zara Larsson plans to pursue a political career when she turns 50.

During an appearance on Las Culturistas on Wednesday, Oct. 7, the Swedish pop star told hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang that she could see herself running for political office. Larsson, 28, stated she envisions herself as a singing Mamdani, describing someone who fights for the people and performs good deeds.

Larsson clarified that she would most likely run in Sweden, though she remains open to other options. With 22 years before her hypothetical 2048 campaign, Rogers and Yang proposed a campaign slogan referencing one of her song titles: “Puss Puss ’48.”

For now, Larsson focuses on pop music. Her 2025 album Midnight Sun reached No. 36 on the Billboard 200, while its title track climbed to No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her PinkPantheress collaboration “Stateside” became her highest-charting Hot 100 hit by peaking at No. 6.

On Las Culturistas, Larsson also advocated for keeping the Midnight Sun campaign active. She expressed commitment to giving “Blue Moon” attention even though the track is not currently gaining organic traction.

“I believe in this song,” she said. “I want to make a video for it. I want to go out and promote it.”

Larsson recently previewed the upcoming “Blue Moon” video, characterizing it as a nighttime counterpart to the world of “Midnight Sun” featuring a larger budget and a Florida-inspired aesthetic.

She also addressed a name for her fanbase. After considering choices such as “Larssonists” and “Zluts,” Rogers and Yang suggested “Gooners,” which Larsson endorsed.

“Gooners,” she said. “I support that.”
