After a two-year hiatus, the highly anticipated second season of X-Men ’97 is finally upon us. Following the runaway success of its 2024 debut and that jaw-dropping finale, the series returns on July 1 with a three-episode premiere. While Professor X, Magneto, and others face the origins of En Sabah Nur in ancient Egypt, the remaining X-Men battle a tyrannical version of the villain in a dystopian 3960 AD. Expect major appearances from Polaris and the battle-hardened adult version of Cable.

The episode titles offer tantalizing clues about the season’s direction. “Days of Past Future” is a clear nod to the iconic comic storyline, while “Rise of Apocalypse” draws inspiration from the 1996 limited series detailing the character’s dark evolution. Other titles like “A Force to be Reckoned With” hint at the involvement of X-Force, and “Weapon X, Lies, and DVDs” points toward a deep dive into Wolverine’s tragic history.
