The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has officially unveiled the contenders for its 78th annual awards. The prestigious ceremony is set to take place on March 8 in Los Angeles.
The Original Screenplay category features a competitive lineup including “Sinners,” “Marty Supreme,” “Weapons,” “Black Bag,” and “I’d Kick You If I Could.” Vying for the Best Adapted Screenplay prize are “Battle for Battle,” “Hamnet,” “Frankenstein,” “Bugonia,” and “Train Dreams.”
Notably, several high-profile Oscar contenders—such as “Sentimental Value,” “A Simple Accident,” and “Blue Moon”—were deemed ineligible for the WGA Awards due to the Guild’s specific internal regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
On the television front, the WGA recognized a diverse array of storytelling, with nominations going to acclaimed series such as “One of Many,” “Pitt,” “Furniture Company,” “Andor,” “The Rehearsal,” and “Severance,” among others.
