Will Smith to Star in Musical Biopic
Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and The Malar Group have announced the development of “215,” a compelling drama series chronicling the formative years of Smith’s music career and his iconic partnership with DJ Jazzy Jeff. This project marks the inaugural collaboration between the two production houses.
Set against the backdrop of West Philadelphia in the late 1980s, the narrative follows a teenage Will and his close friend, DJ Jazzy Jeff, as they strive to secure a record deal and break free from their neighborhood roots. As the local hip-hop scene evolves, the duo must navigate the complexities of the music industry, the challenges of newfound fame, and the delicate balance between staying true to their hometown and the pressures that threaten to test their lifelong bond.
The title “215” serves as a nod to the iconic area code of Philadelphia.
