Ghostrunner solutions the query we’ve all been asking: what if Titanfall had swords?
It’s not too typically we get a very good parkour game round. With Respawn’s focus centred squarely on Apex Legends and Star Wars, and Mirror’s Edge in hibernation, we’re desperately quick on good first-person vomit sims.
Enter Ghostrunner, which dropped a trailer out of nowhere this afternoon.
It’s the longer term, with all of the grim darkness that comes with it. There’s a fairly inventory story about your cyber-warrior lad taking up an oppressive “Keymaster”. More of that plot may be discovered over on the game’s Steam page.
But we all know what you’re right here for. Just have a look at that sliding, these jumps, the stabbing.
There’s no mistaking that there’s a bit of Respawn right here. Ghostrunner’s cyberpunk world is ridden with conveniently-placed platforms and flat partitions for bouncing between like an adrenalise-jacked Titan pilot.
But there’s additionally some stable Dishonored-style arcane trickery at work. Corvo’s blink and Emily’s grapple make an look. Not to say the entire, y’know, stabbing factor.
We solely know as a lot as you do, proper now. But one factor’s for certain – it’s gonna be a hell of plenty of enjoyable to only run about doing daft cyberpunk parkour.
Ghostrunner is heading to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August sixth, 2020.
