A new documentary about Dayton, Ohio rock band Brainiac will make its world premiere on the 2019 SXSW Film Festival. Brainiac: Transmissions After Zero options interviews with the group’s former members, in addition to Wayne Coyne, Steve Albini, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithewaite, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Fred Armisen, Matt Berninger of the National, Jim O’Rourke, and plenty of extra. Check out the trailer for Brainiac beneath.

Directed Eric Mahoney, the movie chronicles the rise and tragic disbandment of Brainiac after their frontman Tim Taylor died all of a sudden in a automobile accident in 1997, simply because the group was gaining momentum, touring with Beck, and readying to signal a serious label report deal. The documentary was initially funded by a Kickstarter campaign Mahoney launched in 2017.
