Erivo and Grande Appear in Enchanting Winter Olympics Spots Ahead of Wicked: For Good

Published November 6, 2025

Good news for fans: Wicked: For Good hits theaters soon, and NBC Sports has released two whimsical promotional spots that pair the film’s stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, with the upcoming Winter Olympics.

In a clip posted by NBC Sports on Thursday, November 5, 2025, Tony winner Cynthia Erivo — who plays Elphaba in Jon M. Chu’s live-action Wicked — joins members of Team USA’s curling squad during practice. When the team struggles with a balky broom, Erivo lifts Elphaba’s signature mode of transport and, with knowing charm, prompts them: “Try this.”

When the enchanted broom helps the curlers hit their mark, Erivo punctuates the moment with the playful BFF wave she and Ariana Grande shared in the first Wicked film.

The second spot, also posted Thursday, begins with figure skater Alysa Liu delivering a stunning program — until a quake-like tremor shifts the perspective and reveals she’s inside a snow globe, which Grande is casually staring into and shaking from the outside.

Both videos arrive just weeks before the sequel’s theatrical premiere on November 21, 2025, nearly one year after the original Wicked opened in November 2024 and went on to break box-office records. Less than three months after Wicked: For Good bows, the 2026 Winter Olympics will begin on February 6, 2026, with coverage on NBC and Peacock.

The collaboration feels fitting: Erivo and Grande were also part of the press cycle for the first film at the 2024 Summer Games, and Universal even routed the Emerald City train through Paris as part of that celebration.

Promotion for the sequel has been noticeably more restrained. Grande has indicated the quieter approach was deliberate, intended to keep the film’s rollout feeling authentic and fan-centered. This week the film held its first international premiere in Brazil, an event Grande was scheduled to attend but missed because of a “safety issue” with her flight.

On her Instagram Story on November 4, 2025, Grande wrote, “i am so heartbroken that i’m unable to be there with you all,” and asked fans not to “wish danger” on her because they were upset by her absence — adding that the team had tried everything to make the appearance happen.
