Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 Being Canceled Over an “Agenda” — Some Gamers Worried About Female Necrons

Trying the demo left some players with decidedly negative reactions.

The team behind Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 recently released a tactical demo. Players were given a chance to try out playable representatives of the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons.

Shortly afterward, a number of players voiced complaints about Mechanicus 2. EvilNando started a thread on the Steam forum discussion asking, “Does every named playable character HAVE to be a woman?” The game began being labeled as “woke” (accused of pushing a particular agenda).

However, based on the comments, many players don’t share that worry and haven’t noticed any overtly progressive messaging in the demo. Eversor That Coming sought to calm those upset:

“Not every named playable character will be female in the full release, and you know that.”
