VR title Apex Construct sees a surge in gross sales after getting mistaken for Apex Legends

Fast Travel Games has seen curiosity in its VR game soar as gamers mistake it for Respawn’s Apex Legends.

Andreas Juliusson, advertising and marketing and communications supervisor at Fast Travel Games, has taken to Reddit to share a joke that has seen the devs’ VR game promote extra items in China in seven days than for the whole lot of 2018, and a 4000% enhance in visits to the Steam store page for its demo.

The cause for its sudden success? Apex Legends.

“As you are most likely aware, the free-to-play, Battle Royale game Apex Legends was released last week. Not only does the name resembles our own VR game Apex Construct, the logos are also strikingly similar (ours came first though!)”

Apex Construct is a single-player, action-adventure VR title unique to EA Origin on PC, and available on PSVR.

The Steam web page is only for a demo, and regardless of being priced at £24.99/ $29.99, it appears that evidently gamers in China have been snapping it up, in a case of mistaken id.

“Apparently people are prepared to buy what they think is Apex Legends for $29.99, even thought it’s a free-to-play title… Most likely these units will be refunded, but our books look pretty good at the moment,” Juliusson added.

Through no fault of its personal, Fast Travel Games is now discovering Apex Construct on the receiving finish of a mess of adverse consumer evaluations from Chinese gamers who suppose they’ve been scammed. The Steam Community crew is wanting into the scenario so hopefully the developer ought to get the matter resolved quickly.
