Valve Releases Major Counter-Strike 2 Update Featuring New Mode and Pet Chickens

Players are now trying to figure out how the new mechanics work.

In late September, Valve returned to Counter-Strike 2 with a major update. The developers prepared new content, added a stealth reload mechanic, fixed various technical issues, and improved the visual presentation of the game.

A Rush mode was introduced, featuring 3v3 battles. Matches take place across a set of randomly selected arenas.

Players can now reload silently, though slowly, by pressing and holding the reload key.

The graphics update not only improves the in-game visuals, but it can also be useful during training sessions. Bullet holes are now clearer on various materials, and blood splatter from hitting an opponent should also be more noticeable. There was also a surprise addition as players noticed that pet chickens were quietly added to the game. Chicken eggs can now drop, which over time—roughly a week—evolve into a chick stage. This chick then turns into a young pet chicken that can be brought into a match. A file analysis indicates that the game features more than 30 types of chickens in various color variants.
