Valve released a gameplay update for Deadlock amid the closure of Highguard — mechanics and heroes changed

While recent competitors struggle to find their footing, Valve’s latest project continues to flourish through constant iteration.

Valve has kicked off March with a massive update for Deadlock, implementing sweeping adjustments to core gameplay mechanics, hero kits, and itemization.

  • A new movement technique allows players to execute jumps while sliding.
  • The durability of Shrines has been reworked: the first is now easier to topple at 5,000 HP, while the second has been reinforced to 10,000 HP.
  • Neutralizing a pair of Base Guardians now spawns a “high-speed zip-line creep wave” designed to amplify your team’s offensive pressure.

Map layout changes include the addition of fresh neutral monster camps, and the Mid Boss has seen a health buff, rising from 11,900 to 13,000. Furthermore, rewards for securing the boss and other map objectives have been increased.

The patch also introduces the “Golden Goose Egg” item alongside a comprehensive balance pass targeting various characters and equipment.
