The sci‑fi film “Tron: Ares,” starring Jared Leto, will arrive on international streaming platforms on December 2, media outlets report.
The third installment of the “Tron” franchise premiered in October but underperformed at the global box office, earning $142 million against a $220 million production budget. Leto portrays an artificial intelligence intent on subjugating the Earth.
Supporting performances come from Jeff Bridges, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, Greta Lee and others. Joachim Rønning — known for directing the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film — directed “Ares.” Critics were divided in their response; the film holds a 53% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
