Future Ruins Festival — Curated by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross — Canceled
Published October 3, 2025

Future Ruins — the film-and-music festival created by Oscar-winning composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross — will not take place this year. Organizers announced the cancellation on October 3, 2025.
The one-day gathering, which had been slated for November 8, 2025 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, was called off due to what the festival described as “logistical challenges and complications.” The statement was published on the event’s official website and shared across its social channels.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the organizers wrote that, rather than deliver a compromised experience, they have chosen to pause and reassess the production. The message added that refunds will be issued automatically and ticket holders should expect an email with further instructions.
Future Ruins had promoted a diverse, cinema-forward lineup spanning three stages. Featured participants included Mark Mothersbaugh — the Devo frontman and frequent Wes Anderson collaborator — filmmaker-composer John Carpenter, Academy Award winner Hildur Guðnadóttir, and Questlove, who was set to perform film-score material tied to Curtis Mayfield.
Reznor and Ross were also scheduled to present selections from their extensive film and television catalog, drawing from works such as Watchmen, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Empire of Light, Waves, Mank and The Killer.
Earlier in 2025, Reznor’s group Nine Inch Nails launched the Peel It Back tour — the band’s first run of live dates since 2022 — with performances across Europe in June and July, followed by a North American leg that began in August.
Below is the festival’s full cancellation notice as posted on its social feed.
Unfortunately Future Ruins will not move forward this year. The reality is, due to a number of logistical challenges and complications, we feel we cannot provide the experience that’s defined what this event was always intended to be. Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to… pic.twitter.com/gxVO0XsRYk
