Total War: Warhammer III Update 9.0 to Speed Up Gameplay Tempo
Turns are expected to finish faster.
The developers of the grand strategy game Total War: Warhammer III have presented a developer diary detailing the upcoming Update 9.0. The patch includes technical fixes and free content alongside a series of gameplay changes.
Gameplay will be accelerated. For example, turn completion times will be reduced, with a decrease of up to 30% expected. Resource costs for managing the arsenal and cycling through unit abilities will also be reduced.
Several other changes and improvements include:
- A rework of the VFX (visual effects) command issuing system, which will reduce overall CPU load and improve performance
- Optimized construction of the faction influence map
- Improved granularity and detail for workflow tasks
- Various minor optimization improvements

Improvements have also been made to artificial intelligence. The developers noted that situations sometimes arose where the AI spent too much time trying to recruit units in scenarios where recruitment was likely to fail.
Now, the campaign AI will store a history of when and where it attempted to recruit units into its army. This will allow it to better recognize unsuccessful recruitment attempts and prioritize other options. If recruitment repeatedly proves unsuccessful, the AI will focus on other tasks. This is expected to make the recruitment process more efficient, helping the AI reach full combat readiness faster.
In addition, the developers have updated the algorithm for forming AI armies, especially at higher campaign levels. Players will be able to see more elite units at high difficulty levels.
