Tom Cruise’s “Digger” Risks Becoming the Biggest Box Office Flop of 2026
The upcoming film Digger, starring Tom Cruise, could spell significant financial trouble for Warner Bros. With a production budget hovering around $180 million, industry analysts estimate the movie would need to rake in over $350 million globally just to break even after accounting for marketing and distribution costs. Currently, box office projections are falling well short of that target.
The domestic opening in North America also looks bleak. Official estimates for the debut weekend sit at approximately $12 million, while more conservative forecasts suggest a disappointing $8–10 million range. Given such a sluggish start, it will be an uphill battle for the film to recoup its heavy investment through international ticket sales.
The release of Digger comes during a challenging year for Warner Bros., which has already endured a string of commercial failures, including The Mummy, Practical Magic 2, Evil Dead: Hell, The Bride, and They Will Come for You.
