In a striking display of performance art, Dominican sensation Tokischa completely shaved her head in front of a capacity crowd at New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden on Saturday, March 21. The radical transformation took place during her opening set for FKA Twigs’ Body High Tour, marking a defiant new chapter for the boundary-pushing artist.

Tokischa is currently joining FKA Twigs for a prestigious six-night residency, with the tour lineup also featuring avant-garde acts such as Brutalismus 3000 and Eartheater. Despite not yet releasing a full-length debut album, the rapper has already cemented her influence on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts through a series of viral hits and high-profile collaborations.

The visual overhaul serves as a precursor to her highly anticipated debut LP, titled Amor & Droga (Love & Drugs). While the official release date remains undisclosed, Tokischa has hinted that the project will be her most vulnerable work to date.

Reflecting on the album’s creative direction, the artist previously shared that the record functions as a sonic “diary,” chronicling a turbulent period of her life. “This album tells a very special story for me—a difficult time that shaped who I am today,” she explained. “It’s a space where I can finally let everything out and share experiences I’ve never discussed before.”

Fans have already received a taste of this new era with the release of the Skrillex-produced single “Surfboard.” The track, which recently received a provocative music video, has become a centerpiece of her live performances on the current tour, showcasing the high-energy fusion of electronic and urban sounds that defines her evolution.
