Tim Burton’s ‘Attack of the 50 Foot Woman’ Remake Finds Screenwriters

Dania Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, the creative duo behind the animated feature K-Pop: Demon Hunters, have been tapped to pen the screenplay for the upcoming reimagining of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman for Warner Bros., as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Visionary director Tim Burton is set to helm the project. While Gillian Flynn, the acclaimed author of Gone Girl, was initially slated to write the script, she has since departed the production. Margot Robbie is rumored to be the frontrunner for the lead role and is also expected to serve as a producer for the remake.

The original 1958 film has long held cult classic status. The narrative follows Nancy Archer, a wealthy socialite who, following a stint in a sanitarium and amidst a crumbling marriage, encounters an extraterrestrial craft. This celestial encounter triggers a startling metamorphosis, causing her to grow to a gargantuan height.

The writers’ previous work, K-Pop: Demon Hunters, debuted last year to significant acclaim, reportedly becoming one of the most successful titles in Netflix history and securing two Golden Globe Awards.
