The Outer Worlds 2 Developers Showcase Insane Weapon and Third‑Person Gameplay

At IGN Fan Fest, Obsidian unveiled fresh gameplay footage for The Outer Worlds 2. The trailer mixes combat snippets showcasing new weapons with retro, Fallout-inspired music.

Standout gear includes a corrosive sprayer—perfect for dissolving bodies—and a wrist-mounted grenade launcher that fires pyrotechnic rounds. There’s also a two-handed melee weapon that looks like a giant pizza cutter and an enormous warhammer. Valeri, one of six new companions, appears in several clips providing fire support.

The trailer highlights third-person gameplay. The perspective looks polished, especially given that Obsidian hadn’t originally planned to include a third-person mode.

The Outer Worlds 2 launches on October 29, 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and will be available on Game Pass. Xbox and PC owners can already pre-download the game ahead of its release.
