Universal Pictures has officially scheduled the next chapter of its blockbuster franchise, The Mummy 4, for a theatrical debut on May 19, 2028, according to recent media reports.
In a move that will delight long-time fans, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their iconic roles. While specific narrative details are currently being kept under wraps, the project will be helmed by the filmmaking duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin (Ready or Not, Scream). The screenplay was penned by David Coggeshall, known for his work on The Family Plan.
The franchise first captivated audiences in 1999 with the story of treasure seekers who inadvertently awakened an ancient curse in the Egyptian desert. Collectively, the original trilogy has amassed a staggering $1.258 billion at the global box office. Additionally, a separate Mummy reboot directed by Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise) is expected to arrive this spring.
