“The Mandalorian & Grogu” may have the worst opening in the saga’s history

Financial analysts project that “The Mandalorian & Grogu” may generate approximately $82 million during its initial four-day opening weekend. Should these forecasts hold true, the feature film chronicling the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his pint-sized companion would mark the lowest debut in the history of the Star Wars franchise.

Globally, the film is expected to pull in roughly $160 million, benefiting from a near-simultaneous international release, excluding South Korea and Russia. Domestically, the film is anticipating a steady performance, with pre-sales already contributing $25 million to its box office total.

A significant advantage for “The Mandalorian & Grogu” is its broad, family-friendly appeal. The movie is positioned to attract not only dedicated adult fans but also teenagers and families with younger children.

The film’s worldwide theatrical release begins on May 21.
