“The Maid” Earns 1 Billion Rubles in Russia
The psychological thriller “The Housemaid” has officially surpassed the one-billion-ruble milestone in Russia, with EAIS reporting total earnings of 1.015 billion rubles.
The film arrived in theaters on January 8. On the global stage, including the United States and other international territories, “The Housemaid” has already cleared the $350 million mark.
Starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, the production is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden. The plot follows Millie, a young woman who accepts a position as a domestic worker for the affluent Winchester family, only to find herself entangled in a web of dark and disturbing secrets.
Critics have largely embraced the film, which currently holds a 74% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Following this commercial and critical success, Lionsgate has officially greenlit a sequel.
