The dark comedy-thriller The Housemaid has officially become the most commercially successful project in Sydney Sweeney’s filmography. Paul Feig’s latest directorial effort has raked in over $305 million globally against a modest $35 million budget. This isn’t the actress’s first box-office triumph; two years ago, her romantic comedy Anyone But You earned approximately $220.2 million.
The Housemaid also represents a new career peak for director Paul Feig, the visionary behind A Simple Favor, surpassing his previous commercial records.
A sequel is already in active development. The follow-up is set to reunite Sweeney and Feig, with Michele Morrone also confirmed to reprise his role as the gardener.
In the Russian market, The Housemaid has seen extraordinary demand, with the thriller crossing the 500-million-ruble mark in just its first two weeks of release.
