Slash Guests on New Single “Have to Have You” from The Lost Boys Musical
A preview track featuring a blistering guitar solo arrives ahead of the show’s Broadway run

Santa Carla’s nocturnal chaos is gearing up for a return to the stage. Instead of the familiar soundtrack cues from the original 1987 cult movie, the new Broadway adaptation layers in contemporary rock firepower — most notably a scorching guest solo from Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash on the single “Have to Have You.”
The guitar legend supplies a high-voltage break on “Have to Have You,” a driving rock number that appears on the musical’s soundtrack. The stage adaptation reimagines Joel Schumacher’s teen-vampire film as a full-scale musical and features the story’s teen ensemble — including Ali Louis Bourzgui (David), Maria Wirries (Star), Brian Flores (Marko), Sean Grandillo (Dwayne) and Dean Maupin (Paul) — performing songs by the band The Rescues.
Bourzgui explains that the creative team opted to release an EP framed as if The Lost Boys were an actual local band: “The producers suggested issuing a Santa Carla–style EP, treating the characters like a real, hometown act,” he says. The cast recorded the track written by The Rescues, which was the first song Bourzgui heard from the group and the piece he used at his audition for the role.
The cast’s excitement only grew when Slash agreed to contribute. Bourzgui recalls the moment the guitarist entered the session: impeccably composed, Slash laid down an intense, technically precise solo in just a take or two — then casually asked if it sounded all right.
To build momentum for the stage production, a three-song EP titled The Lost Boys — The Santa Carla Sessions will begin streaming on Oct. 31; the lead single “Have to Have You” is available now. In addition to the title track, the EP features LJ Benet on “Belong to Someone” and Caissie Levy with guest Patrick Wilson on “Wild.” All music and lyrics are by The Rescues.
Preview performances of The Lost Boys begin March 27 at the Palace Theatre, with an official opening on April 26. Tickets are on sale now; secure seats through the show’s ticketing site. The musical’s book is by David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) with contributions from Chris Hoch, direction by two-time Tony winner Michael Arden, choreography by Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, and a score by The Rescues (Kyler England, AG, Gabriel Mann).
