How to Scan Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom

Similar to Breath of the Wild, you can utilize your amiibo collection to earn bonus items. If the option is missing from your ability wheel, ensure that amiibo scanning is enabled in the game’s Settings menu.

To use an amiibo, select the amiibo icon from your ability wheel. Once prompted, place your figure against the center of your Pro Controller or near the right control stick if you are using Joy-Cons or a Switch Lite.

Understanding Amiibo Reward Mechanics

Amiibo provide a variety of loot, ranging from specialized paraglider fabrics to unique armor and combat materials. Each character typically follows a thematic loot table—for instance, Link figures often yield weapons, while Zelda figures provide valuable minerals and herbs.

Rewards are not always guaranteed on a single scan, so you may need to scan your figures over multiple days to collect everything in their loot pool. You are limited to one scan per individual amiibo each day.

While most amiibo-exclusive armor and weapons can eventually be found throughout the game world, scanning your figures serves as an excellent shortcut to obtain these items early. The only exceptions are the unique paraglider fabrics, which can only be obtained through amiibo scans.
