Lionsgate has officially announced a sequel to the psychological thriller The Housemaid. Reports indicate that lead star Sydney Sweeney and director Paul Feig are both confirmed to return for the follow-up project.
The cinematic adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel has already grossed an impressive $133 million worldwide. While international rollouts continue, the film’s commercial success has solidified its path toward a franchise expansion.
The narrative follows Millie, a young woman who finds employment as a live-in maid for the affluent Winchester family. However, she quickly discovers that the household’s polished facade hides a web of unsettling and dangerous secrets involving everyone under its roof.
The original cast also features Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone. Specific plot details for the sequel and an official release window have yet to be disclosed by the studio.
