Arnold Schwarzenegger has met with director Dan Trachtenberg several times and is showing interest in the franchise.
Arnold Schwarzenegger played Alan “Dutch” Schaefer in John McTiernan’s original Predator (1987). Since then, the fate of his character has been left unresolved. In June 2025 the animated film Predator: Killer of Killers was released, and a later-added scene reunited two of the franchise’s iconic heroes — Dutch and Mike Harrigan (from Predator 2). That sequence revealed that both men didn’t die but were abducted from Earth and preserved in cryo-pods as humanity’s strongest fighters who managed to beat the Predators.
That scene sparked fresh speculation about a possible return for the “Iron Arnie.” Now the producer of Predator: Planet of Death has confirmed there’s a real chance. Ben Rosenblatt said the legendary actor has met with Dan Trachtenberg multiple times and expressed genuine interest in the project.
“Obviously, the holy grail for Predator films would be bringing Arnold back. Deep down we’ve all imagined how incredible it would be to see him return to the franchise he helped make legendary — a franchise that, in turn, helped make him iconic. Arnold and Dan have met a few times. He was very enthusiastic about what we’re developing. […] After Predator: Planet of Death is released, we’ll decide the next steps. We hope to have the opportunity to do something with Arnold, because that would be amazing.”
Rosenblatt didn’t specify whether he meant a full-length feature or merely a cameo, like the one in Predator: Killer of Killers. Still, it appears likely that audiences will see Dutch again in the future.
