The first episodes of the series “Half-Life” have been released on Okko
Okko has launched the debut episodes of “Half-Life,” a new historical drama directed by Maxim Sveshnikov and starring Anna Mikhalkova and Filipp Yankovsky. The series centers on the 1954 Totskoye nuclear exercises, a clandestine Soviet military operation designed to test troop maneuvers in the wake of an atomic blast.
Mikhalkova portrays Nadezhda Keller, a small-town journalist who, following the passing of her father—the renowned reporter Boris Keller (Petar Zekavica)—discovers his archived notes. Driven to complete his final, unfinished investigation, she gradually unearths unsettling ties between her father’s professional secrets and his sudden estrangement from their family.
Produced by the Sreda production company and penned by Oleg Malovichko, the series features an ensemble cast including Marina Vasilyeva, Mila Ershova, Evgeny Stychkin, Igor Gordin, and Sergey Shakurov.
The narrative is complemented by the documentary series “Soldiers of Half-Life: The USSR’s Nuclear Secret,” which premiered on Okko on October 2. This companion piece provides a deep dive into the historical reality of the exercises, which involved approximately 45,000 military personnel.
