The big mountain in Ghost of Yotei isn’t just scenery — developers expected players to climb it and left a handy surprise

Players who enjoy scouring the map can take in the world from above.

A number of explorers have already ventured through the world of Ghost of Yotei. Among those early adventurers is the creator behind the YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits.

He noticed a conspicuous mountain and set out to see whether it could be climbed. It turns out it can — though the protagonist Atsu needs roughly ten minutes of real time to reach the top (this estimate assumes part of the route is shortened by a passage cut through the rock).

The Ghost of Yotei developers clearly expected players to attempt the ascent — an altar for quick return travel was left inside the crater for those who make the climb.
