HBO has ordered a second season of the crime drama “The Assignment,” Variety reports. Mark Ruffalo is set to return in the lead role.
The series premiered in September to strong critical acclaim (96% on Rotten Tomatoes). The story follows an FBI agent (Ruffalo) who is hunting a seemingly respectable family man (Tom Pelphrey), suspected of masterminding a string of brutal robberies in a Philadelphia suburb.
“The Assignment” was created by Brad Ingelsby (“Mare of Easttown”). A release date for the second season will be announced at a later time.
