Taylor Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” Breaks Spotify Record Hours After Release

Spotify reported roughly 11 hours following the album’s arrival that The Life of a Showgirl set the 2025 benchmark for the most streams of an album in a single day. The previous single-day record this year was held by Playboi Carti’s Music, issued March 14.

Crowds at Spotify’s Life of a Showgirl pop-up in New York City underscored the rush: Good Morning America noted that about 1.2 million listeners were tuned into the new album simultaneously at one point during the morning event.

Swift shared her own reaction with fans on Instagram, writing that she was immensely proud to share this record and inviting listeners to “peek behind the curtain.” The artist has described the album’s new material as “bangers.”

The project — a 12-track set Swift first revealed on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce — was developed in Sweden alongside producers Max Martin and Shellback while she was on the career-spanning Eras Tour. That tour became the highest-grossing in history when it concluded.
