Taylor Swift Reacts Joyfully to AJ McLean’s Backstreet Boys Remix

Even as one of the world’s biggest stars, Taylor Swift still behaves like an enthusiastic fan when the moment calls for it.
AJ McLean recently posted an Instagram Reel of a playful remix that mashes Swift’s “Elizabeth Taylor” with the Backstreet Boys’ classic “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” Swift couldn’t hide her excitement in the comments, writing, “OH HI AJ OH MY GOD” on Monday, Oct. 20. Watch McLean’s post.
McLean captioned the clip with unmistakable enthusiasm: “Come on now you know one of us had to! @taylorswift !”
“Elizabeth Taylor” is featured on Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, which arrived on Oct. 3. The record opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving a historic 4.002 million equivalent album units in its first week — a milestone that drew heartfelt gratitude from Swift to her audience.
In response to the album’s debut, Swift thanked fans for supporting the project across formats — from theater screenings to vinyl purchases — and said the achievement deepened her pride in the work and her appreciation for the listeners who embraced it.
Swift’s affection for ’90s boy bands is well-documented. She famously lost her composure when *NSYNC reunited onstage in 2023, reacting like a devoted fan while the group later presented her with the award for best pop video for her chart-topping single “Anti-Hero.” In her acceptance speech she playfully admitted how difficult it was to process the moment.
McLean has also spoken warmly about Swift in interviews, praising her humility and professionalism. On the Getting Grilled With Curtis Stone podcast in 2024 he recalled how Swift remembered his eldest daughter’s name after meeting her — a gesture that left a lasting impression on him as a parent.
