The first Friday of October 2025 brought a wave of new music, with Taylor Swift’s latest album release standing out as the biggest event of the week. Released on , The Life of a Showgirl finds Swift reflecting on the past two years — from life on the Eras Tour to her engagement to Travis Kelce — and crafting an album that mixes personal observation with theatrical flair.
The record includes a few notable moments: Sabrina Carpenter appears as the only credited guest on the title track, a composition that blends Swift’s signature storytelling with guest vocals; another song reworks elements from the late George Michael’s “Father Figure”; and a surprise shout-out to 50 Cent surfaced in “Ruin the Friendship,” a nod that the rapper acknowledged on social media the day the album launched.
Swift’s release dominated conversation this week, but several other artists also dropped fresh material. Country star Luke Combs returned with the single “Days Like These”; Leon Thomas released “Just How You Are”; Louis Tomlinson shared “Lemonade”; Kali Uchis teamed up with Mariah the Scientist on “Pretty Promises”; and an unexpected collaboration between Fred again.. and Amyl and the Sniffers yielded “You’re a Star.”
With so much new music to choose from, we want to hear which release you’re streaming on repeat. Vote in the poll below and tell us which record or single is your pick this week.
