Taylor Swift offered words of wisdom while accepting the global icon award at the 2021 Brit Awards Tuesday (May 11), but fans think she offered much more.
Her straight hair with full-on bangs and bedazzled two-piece outfit might be signaling which one of her past albums she’s re-recording next, as far as Swifties are concerned. But there are two plausible options: her fourth album, Red, from 2012, or her fifth album, 1989, from 2014.
The hair? Totally her Red era. Just look at the album artwork (even the filter matches). But the sparkly crop top (and nail color) seems to nod to her 1989 World Tour outfits. The Swifties previously couldn’t shake off the theory that she might be re-recording 1989 next following her appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in April, but now, Red seems to be a strong contender.
Swift released her first of six re-recorded albums, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), on April 9, and it debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 that her original blockbuster album Fearless did back in 2008. Billboard has been measuring the performance of this unprecedented chart feat — the first re-recorded version of another album to reach the peak of the Billboard 200 chart — in terms of weekly listenership. Fans can check out how the re-recorded Fearless performed in its fourth week on the Billboard 200 here.
But when Fearless (Taylor’s Version) debuted at No. 1 on the tally a month ago, the pop star let her fans know where she was celebrating — in the studio recording the next LP. “Been in the studio all day recording the next one – it’s really so amazing what you all have done here,” Swift wrote as she retweeted and reacted to Billboard‘s announcement that her re-recording of Fearless shot straight to the top of the chart.
