Tasha Cobbs Leonard to Release Live Album ‘Tasha Unscripted’ in September

Renowned gospel powerhouse Tasha Cobbs Leonard is preparing to unveil her brand-new live album, Tasha Unscripted, scheduled for release on September 11 through Motown Gospel and Capitol Christian Music Group.

The upcoming record preserves the electrifying energy of an intimate live worship gathering hosted in Atlanta earlier this year. Serving as a dynamic musical foundation, the concert allowed familiar anthems to evolve through fresh arrangements. Furthermore, Cobbs Leonard shared the stage with an esteemed roster of special guests, including Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, William Murphy, and Israel Houghton.

In anticipation of the full-length project, Cobbs Leonard has delivered an early taste of the album with the release of “Gracefully Broken/Who The Son Sets Free (Live),” featuring Israel Houghton, alongside an accompanying official music video.

This release follows her critically acclaimed 2025 studio album, TASHA, which marked a distinct departure after a prolific run of live records. That versatile project debuted at the summit of Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums, Current Gospel Album, and Top Christian/Gospel Album charts, seamlessly blending elements of gospel, R&B, pop, roots, and hip-hop. TASHA also featured the chart-topping Billboard Gospel Airplay smash “Church,” featuring John Legend—extending Cobbs Leonard’s remarkable legacy to 10 career No. 1 hits on the Gospel Airplay chart.

With Tasha Unscripted, the celebrated artist gracefully returns to her natural element: leading a fervent audience in uncontainable, spontaneous worship.

“After stepping into a quieter, more intimate creative space with TASHA, I felt called back to the room, to the kind of night where you cannot predict what God will do next,” Cobbs Leonard shared in an official statement. “Tasha Unscripted captures what happened when we made space for the songs to breathe and for people to respond in real time. There was so much freedom in that room, and I’m excited for everyone to finally experience it, both on the album and on tour.”

Beyond her musical releases, Cobbs Leonard is set to receive the prestigious Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on August 15. She also leads this year’s nominations with six nods, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and the Albertina Walker Female Artist of the Year. Additionally, she secured three nominations for the upcoming GMA Dove Awards across Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year, Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year, and Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.

To celebrate the new era, she will embark on her nationwide Unscripted Nights Tour this autumn, featuring major performances in cities such as Charlotte, Atlanta, and New York.
