Tarkov-like The Forever Winter gets anniversary update — developers add tunnels, a shooting range and drone crafting

Efforts to refine the extraction project are ongoing.

Recently, the developers of The Forever Winter celebrated the game’s anniversary and released a special update. It introduces new content and a gift — a free Mask Man skin called “Red Dog”.

Players can now train at the local shooting range (a firing range has been added). The update also introduces “personal quarters” — an upgrade that grants a health bonus.

New tunnels have been created to reach target regions: the farther the destination, the more tunnels you’ll need to traverse. These tunnels change roughly every day (for now); each change opens new routes and removes old ones. Nearly every region includes an access point to the next tunnel in the network.

The HUD is now dynamic (this can be adjusted in settings):

“Certain actions—such as using weapons or equipment, and health-related events (taking damage or receiving healing), among others—will cause your HUD to appear. After a set period of inactivity following the last event, the HUD will fade away again.”

Players can craft drones, which are used for expansions, rapid travel, and retrieving a fallen character’s “tombstone”.
