Exactly one year from now, we will be playing GTA 6. (Of course, unless there’s a second delay). Then, we won’t have time to think about the symbolism of May 26. It seems the developers have chosen this date for a reason.
Bonnie and Clyde, the infamous bank robbers whose story inspired the game’s plot, were buried one day apart. Clyde Barrow on May 25, and Bonnie Parker on May 26, 1934. The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is likely to occur at midnight, precisely between these two days.
Another date that comes to mind is also related to death — May 26, 2022. On that day, Ray Liotta passed away, a renowned Hollywood actor who also voiced the main character in GTA: Vice City. For fans, the voice of Tommy Vercetti remains one of the best in the series’ history.
In the song “Red” by Daniel Lanois from the official Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack, there’s a line:
Seven months gone and seven years to go
This refers to the epilogue of the first part, which describes events seven years after the epilogue of the second. It might also hint at the superstition of bad luck for seven years with a broken mirror. Coincidentally or not, seven years and seven months after the release of RDR 2 is exactly May 26, 2026. Not just a beautiful, but a mysterious, symbolic, and sacred date.
