During the Steam demo festival you can discover many intriguing titles, but Half Sword — a playful shooter centered on knightly duels — has captured the most attention.
According to official Valve statistics, the Half Sword demo is currently the platform’s most popular, overtaking the new Heroes of Might and Magic entry and Everwind.
What is Half Sword? Players take on the roles of 15th-century knights and fight with a range of weapons — swords, halberds and maces. The developers combine authentic techniques with whimsical physics.
“Innovative gameplay systems allow you to swing weapons and land precise strikes with the computer mouse,” reads the Steam description. Players battle AI opponents, and as they climb the leaderboards they encounter progressively tougher challenges.
In addition to its humorous animations, the game features plenty of gore. The full version of Half Sword is slated for release on PC in 2025, though a firm launch date has not yet been announced.
The Steam Next Fest ends on Monday, October 20, at 20:00 Moscow time.
