Sucker Punch Co-Founder Brian Fleming to Depart the Studio

Sucker Punch Productions, the acclaimed developer behind the recently launched Ghost of Yōtei, has announced a significant shift in its executive ranks. Brian Fleming, one of the studio’s original co-founders and its longtime head, is concluding his tenure at the company. Starting January 1, the studio’s future will be guided by Jason Connell and Adrian Bentley, who are ascending to the roles of joint studio heads to build upon Fleming’s storied legacy at the PlayStation first-party developer.
Established 28 years ago in 1997, Sucker Punch has evolved into a cornerstone of the PlayStation ecosystem under Fleming’s leadership. His career at the studio spanned nearly three decades, overseeing the creation of beloved franchises such as Sly Cooper, InFamous, and the global phenomenon Ghost of Tsushima. According to an official statement, Fleming has collaborated closely with PlayStation Studios over the past several years to ensure a seamless transition, leaving the team with a robust foundation for continued creative success.

The decision to appoint Connell and Bentley as successors reflects a desire to maintain the studio’s core philosophy of delivering ambitious, narrative-heavy experiences. Connell, who previously served as co-creative director for the Ghost series, was instrumental in defining the franchise’s striking visual identity and cinematic storytelling. Meanwhile, Bentley, in his capacity as technical director, spearheaded the engineering innovations and complex systems that have made Sucker Punch’s open worlds feel so immersive and technically polished.
“Together, they represent the perfect synergy of creative vision and technical mastery that has always distinguished this studio,” the announcement noted. While the leadership structure evolves, veteran developer Nate Fox will remain in his pivotal role as co-creative director.

In the wake of Ghost of Yōtei’s October debut, the team is currently hard at work on the Legends expansion. This free multiplayer update is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2026, offering players new ways to experience the world of the Ghost.
